It is with deep regret that we announce the cancellation of the International Herpesvirus Workshop 2020 in Berlin, Germany. This difficult decision was made out of significant concern for the health and safety of our attendees, staff, partners, and our communities.
The IHW 2020 Organizers have been closely monitoring the spread of COVID-19. Based on the latest guidance from public health officials and the travel bans implemented by many institutions, it became clear to us that the cancellation was the right course of action. It is difficult to cancel this exciting meeting that we have been looking forward for a long time. We thank our community for their understanding and commitment to the success of the workshop – the attendees, presenters and sponsors who shared their time, expertise, collaboration, and leadership to make it happen, we sincerely appreciate you all.
Consistent with our registration policy, all registration fees paid will be refunded. Refunds will be processed over the next 30 days. There is no need to request refunds; they will be processed automatically. Refunds will be processed to the original payment method. We are not able to redirect refunds.
In addition, we strongly encourage registrants to cancel their hotel reservations made at the IHW host hotel, the Maritim Hotel Berlin, immediately. We also suggest registrants contact their travel companies regarding cancellation of any travel arrangements or other accommodations previously made. If you submitted an abstract for the workshop, we will be in touch with you directly in the coming weeks with more information.
We thank you for your patience as we worked through the details associated with canceling this large-scale event. Looking ahead, we all know that great things happen when the community comes together and connects at the International Herpesvirus Workshop, and we look forward to seeing you all at future International Herpesvirus Workshops.
