Accommodation information and the hotel/excursion booking form will be available in January 2008.

A) Enjoy a special afternoon in Sintra

A small village built against the northern slope of the Serra de Sintra Mountains, Sintra is well-known by its charming narrow roads enveloped in lush greenery, its climbing flowers and semi-tropical vine-like plants trailing from mossy walls and balconies. Noble houses and Palaces with walled gardens and stately courtyards are scattered throughout the forested hills, revelling in the soft cool micro climate that the mountain position brings upon the town and the surrounding area.

Driving towards the top of the Mountain, we arrive at the gates of the outstanding PENA Palace. Nestled on the top of the mountain, the 19th century’s Royal Palace has architecture similar to that of Germans Bavarian Castles.

The Palace is a living Museum as the original furniture and decorations were kept as they were when this Palace was built for the Royal Portuguese Family. From the Palace walls, a magnificent view over Sintra and surrounding areas can be admired.

Walking down hill from the Palace towards its lovely gardens and small lakes, our guests will have the chance to meet Lord Byron - The famous poet that lived in Sintra for some time and to which he dedicated several poems and so called Sintra as “The Little Eden”.

Excursion Fee: € 28.00

B) Cruise on the Tagus River

Meet your private guides and coaches and proceed to Lisbon for a private cruise on board the Leão Holandês.  Having sailed the seven seas, the magnificent three-mast schooner "Leão-Holandês" (Dutch Lion) has made the harbour of Alcântara (Lisbon) it's home port for a number of years.

Built in 1910, the ship is 44 meters long, 6.2 meters wide and has three 30 meter masts. The ship has a 230-horsepower diesel and all the latest navigational and communication equipment, complying with international safety requirements.

Excursion Fee: € 80.00

C) Hiking from Sintra Mountain to Guincho

Surrounded by the pulsating beat of today’s bustling cities, Sintra hills remains a peaceful heaven for those who just want to take time-out to listen to the breeze whispering through the exotic foliage.

That’s precisely what we’re offering.  A relaxing outing, where history oozes from the very stones of its palaces, castles, and its centuries-old trees. This hike offers spectacular views “where the land meets the sea".

Activities: Pedestrian, visits.

Start / Finish: Biscaia / Bar do Guincho.

Degree of Difficulty: Anyone can join in.  Route essentially downhill.

Monitoring: Will be conducted by our monitors.

Includes: Monitoring by experienced monitors; Backup provided by jeep(s); Communications backup; Personal accident insurance.

Backup: Monitors accompanying participants on foot are in communication with backup jeep(s), which will only be called upon to intervene if necessary.  On hotter days, aside from fountains we shall encounter on the route, the backup jeep(s) will be carrying water for the group.

Equipment: Casual clothes and trainers or hiking boots will do fine for this outing. We strongly advise against wearing shoes with a heel or flimsy clothing.   If it’s sunny, don’t forget to bring a hat or cap.

Security: There’s an adage that we believe in fervently: “Adventure is too serious a business to be left in the hands of mere adventurers.”  In line with this principle, we leave nothing to chance in pro-actively guaranteeing high levels of security and our track record bears testimony to that.
